Vote for Our Project Windows Submission!
You may have noticed the new window display at Altgeld Library! This installation is a collaboration between Collective Learning Lab and 8th-grade students from Aldridge Elementary for the Art Institute's Project Windows. This citywide initiative transforms community spaces into art installations inspired by a featured artist, which this year is Willem de Kooning. You can see more on the Project Windows Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/project.windows/?hl=en
In May, CLL ran a workshop where students used the method of "Action Art" and music to guide their movements, painting individual "mini canvases." Collective Learning Lab Resident Artist Larry Peyton then merged these pieces into his own larger amazing artwork and installed it at Altgeld Library- using the architecture of the library, history of Altgeld, and de Kooning’s painting “Woman, Wind, and Window”(1950) as inspiration. The display will be up through the end of the summer and we need you to vote for it as part of the citywide competition!
