We got a grant to plant a rain garden and 100+ volunteers to install it!

Collective Learning Lab in action!

Director, Eleanor Sweeney, rakes soil with WEF volunteer.

Collective Learning Lab is awarded the 17th Annual WEF Community Service Project. The grant is for the installation of a rain garden at Aldridge Elementary School. This multi-functional green space will serve as a rainwater sequestration system, helping to manage stormwater runoff and improve local water quality. It will also provide a vital habitat for pollinators and native plant species, supporting local biodiversity.

Beyond its environmental benefits, the rain garden will function as a living classroom—an outdoor learning space where students can explore topics such as ecology, climate resilience, and sustainable design. Students will be able to observe and learn about woodland, shrubland, and prarie ecosytems. By engaging in the creation and ongoing care of the garden, students will develop a hands-on understanding of environmental stewardship and the role green infrastructure can play in creating healthier, more resilient communities. 110 volunteers join community members to install the garden in September 2025.

Collective Learning Lab facilitated an art day to compile student artwork for the WEF t-shirts.

The students of Aldridge Elementary created beautiful artwork for the logo.
