Our students win Project Windows 2024 Georgia O’Keeffe: “My New Yorks”
Project Windows is a window display contest created by The Art Institute of Chicago to promote their upcoming exhibits. In 2024 Georgia O’Keeffe: “My New Yorks” was the inspiration for contest designs.
For the first time in Project Windows history, Collective Learning Lab created a pathway for students in Chicago Public Schools to participate. Bronzeville Classical School’s 5th and 7th grade art classes created window displays for two local businesses in Bronzeville, Chicago. In order to learn a shared language based in art critique, they explored shape, light, texture and what story the art was telling. Students critically looked at work by Georgia O’Keeffe and reimagined how the work could reflect themselves and their community.
The work was installed in the business windows and families and community were able to visit the work and frequent the stores.
