Calumet Collaborative Grant Community Partners

We are so excited to be included in the Calumet Collaborative Grant as a community partner. We will be working with the conservation organization, Openlands, environmental justice organization, People for Community Recovery, creative studio for collective impact, Wayfinding LLC, and artist, Alexandra Antoine, to create signage with all four K-8 schools in Altgeld Gardens. The signs will feature art and poetry by students for the Hazel Johnson Memorial Garden. We will be working with Aldridge, Carver, DuBois, and Lloyd Bond elementary schools.

Valerie Butrón piloted a lesson from the African American Heritage Water Trail to 7th grade students at Aldridge.
