Altgeld Gardens 8th Graders Design at Studio Gang

Seventh and eighth grade students from Carver Elementary spent a day at Studio Gang for a hands-on, tailored design workshop. Guided by mentor architects, they learned how architecture can influence the way people live, gather, and move through their neighborhoods. Working in teams, the students sketched, modeled, and critiqued each other’s ideas, drawing inspiration from their own experiences in Altgeld Gardens. By the end of the session, they had produced imaginative pavilion concepts for the upcoming Red Line Extension that reflected their vision for their community.
