Partnering with Studio Gang

Seventh and eighth grade students from Carver Elementary spent a day at Studio Gang for a hands-on, tailored design workshop. Studio Gang architects taught our students how architecture can influence the way people live, gather, and move through their neighborhoods.

Working in teams, the students sketched, modeled, and critiqued each other’s ideas. The workshop focused on students drawing inspiration from their lived experiences in Altgeld Gardens. They worked on ideas and concepts that would reflect their vision for their community. By the end of the session, they had produced imaginative pavilion concepts designed to be be installed at the proposed Red Line Extension on 130th Street in Altgeld Gardens.
